Crushin'

Did you know you could have a crush on your husband you've been married to for
2 and 1/2 years?

I didn't.

I mean, I love him and I have enjoyed being married to him but he isn't the same man I married. He is, but he isn't. I realized the other day I love him more than I ever could have imagined possible. And he loves me even through all my weaknesses which are TONS.  I just feel giddy like a school girl with a crush on this guy who is just the sweetest, coolest guy. I catch myself just thinking about him during the day and I can't help but let a huge grin cross my face. I just sit there and smiling and looking back to our wedding day, the day I promised to love this man, I never could have imagined knowing how happy I could be with him.

After 2 and 1/2 years of being married,
I am more in love with him
more grateful for him
he is sweeter
kinder
gentler
understanding-er;)
happier
smarter
handsomer
funnier

than ever before.

Here's just one of the romantic things he said to me on my birthday-
Warning: it is very cheesy
Do you like cheese?
I do.
Okay, he said:

"You get 24 birthday kisses.
Oh and a little secret:
You can have as many as you want,
Forever."

With a *wink* and a smile that's just for me.

You imagine someone as goofy as my hubby is looking ridiculous saying things with such cheddar or pepper-jack or swiss.
That is just not so. He was saying these romantic "cheesy" things sincerely and not looking stupid at all.

I am so grateful to be married to the best husband out there.
When I tell him such, he says,

"Just wait, I can get better".

 I just can't imagine what.

How could life get any better than this:

Two Years

Whenever someone asks us how long we've been married, Jay replies, "Twenty years" with a little twinkle in his eye.

Sometimes it does feel like we have been together forever and other times it feels like maybe a few months is all. All I know is that things have been difficult at times, there have been tears and misunderstandings and sorrow but every time I look back 2 years ago on that I promised to love Jay Jensen through everything and forever, I am so glad I did.

We have a ways to go but I am so excited that we are starting our family and that we get to build our lives together, starting from really nothing. Sometimes he will turn to me and say, "Argh! I wish we had met five years from now; I would have money, a house, everything ready for us!" All I got to say to that is it has been awesome for me to learn how to budget and really live within and below our means, even if that means we have accepted some help from our parents on the way. We are starting from scratch and sacrificing things so we can have other things. I know we'll have all that stuff (our own house!) soon enough but for now we are enjoying the ride.

We have had two years of learning and growing together and I know we are both better because of the other person. We are best friends and I love that I can have my best friend as my partner in life. We have so many dreams and hopes and faith that through our commitment and love for each other- trusting in God and trusting in each other. I am realizing more and more that the closer we come to know of Christ, the closer we become to each other. It is so easy to become distracted by things that really don't really matter but I know at the end of the day that I have someone who is on my side.

I love Jay. Happy anniversary!

One Year Baby!

This last weekend was our first anniversary!

We made reservations for The Roof and got all shnazzed up and had a wonderful expensive meal.

I borrowed my cousin's huge beautiful prom dress and Jay wore a matching tie. What was funny was there was a high school prom going on so we totally blended in. Everyone thought we were in high school too. I chatted with some of the girls and complimented their beautiful dresses and they oooed and awed at mine (well Quincie's dress). It was funny to see surprised faces when I told them I was not at prom but that we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary.

I believe this will have to be a tradition, I had a blast getting all dolled up and wearing a huge gown. LOVED IT!

This year has been extraordinary.
Jay and I have learned a lot more than we every planned on learning in our first year of marriage. There have been some unexpected things and some heartbreak but hey we know we aren't perfect and that life is not perfect. We are discovering ways to communicate with each other and build a strong foundation for the rest of our lives. I believe in marriage so much and I know it is making both of us better people.

I'm so lucky to have met Jay. He is an amazing human being and I love him with all my heart and can't believe how much my love has grown over the year. I look back on our wedding day and go, "Wow, I can't believe I love you more than I did that day."
I know every year I will probably look back and say, "I thought that was love?" because I know every year our love will deepen and become more meaningful.

And I know life will bring some craziness and stress and bills and whatever else but all I gotta say is I know we are in it together for the long haul so life,

Bring
It
On!!!

Surprising V-Day

Sweet does not always equal romance. Jay doesn't find value in buying me flowers when they just die a few days later. I look back and laugh that every time we went to a grocery store or stopped by anywhere where there were bouquets of flowers, I would stop and smell them, and Jay would just keep walking- didn't even notice me smelling them. I purposely would stand there longer than necessary and just sniff the flowers- like "hey, look, I'm smelling the flowers- they are so pretty- you should buy me some". It never worked. And the last thing a girl wants to do is say, "Hey, you should buy me some flowers dude." That would be romantic...

So Valentines Day comes along and I didn't really expect anything- and guess what Jay did? He totally surprised me. He told me to read some good Valentine's Day articles in the paper and opened it up to a page where I saw my name and a funny little poem to me about how our cars are junk but he has everything he wants because he has me. It was so Dorky! I loved it!

Then there on the kitchen table was a single red rose. Beautiful beautiful rose and a CD. He said he got me a flower because he knows I like flowers and got me a CD with the money he would have spent on a bouquet. And the CD was Rascal Flatts- my favorite!

And then- I know- there's more? Yes! Then he surprised me further by leaving me a little scavenger hunt around the house- you should have seen me- I was running to each of the places like a little kid on Christmas- so excited to see what was in each spot. Each spot had a piece of a puzzle piece with a pile of candy. When I put the puzzle together it said, "Jay and Aubrey Forever".

Sweetest thing ever.

Last Christmas...

So crazy it was only last Christmas that my knight got down on one knee and said he wanted to have me for the rest of his life.

All the smells and decorations and the snow remind me of that nerve-racking and exciting night. And I breathe a sigh of relief for saying yes because if I had said no...yikes, Christmas would be horrible. But I said yes so everything's good. Phew.

Just thought I'd give a sigh of relief on that one.

Best Halloween Ever

For those of you who just want a little glimpse
at our fantabulous weekend, here is the summary
of events:

1. Caramel Apples
2. Carving Pumpkins
3. The Drowsy Chaperone
4. Lagoon's Frightmare

Fun Yay!

And now for the long-winded awesome version:

1.Caramel Apples.

First attempt at making soft chewy caramel apples= disaster.
Fun disaster.
It was so messy and caramel became so hard that
our teeth were afraid of becoming dust.
Yum it was good.

Garr was so excited to have sugar. You can't beat that face.

2.Carving Pumpkins.

Garrett did the guy with dreadlocks-It looked way awesome in real life-I just couldn't capture the essence of it- you will just have to take my word for it.

Jay did the man fishing on the moon -he totally made
up his pattern- very impressive eh?

And I did the lovely eyes with the lips and curls- I know it's
a bit girlie.

Don't worry, next year my pumpkin will scare you
so bad you will beg for girlie.

3.The Drowsy Chaperone!

This is one of those broadway plays you probably haven't heard of.

It's different than other musicals you have probably seen.
It was AMAZING.
I even cried (big surprise)because the one of the actors was
so convincing in his melancholy.
And not one soul didn't have tears from laughing so hard.

I wish we could go to one every month!

4.Frightmare at Lagoon.

Jay got some free tickets from his work and we debated
using them on saturday because the the rainy weather.
I told Jay to decide and the crazy man whipped me off
to Ogden.

I didn't bring my good camera inside but I wish I would have.
Everyone was dressed up and there were those painted
boards where you stick your head in and become the
character on the board. What are those things called?
(There is Jay in one of them above.)

We hit the haunted houses and the haunted roller coaster
rides. Of course we went on Wicked and the Colossous which
we figured out makes us old people a little woozy.

So we took a break and ended the night at the hypnotist show.

It was hilarious- one guy jumped off the stage and landed smack on his belly. He was told that we was a gibberish rap star and was performing for us when he tried to stage dive...yah, there was nobody there to catch him. It was pretty funny (he was okay guys- I wouldn't have said it was so funny if he had gotten hurt).

Awesome Halloween.
